Biography

Esteban is an outgoing, hardworking and very kind person who enjoys nature and it is passionate about teaching people how to surf. He is a native of Nosara, Costa Rica who spent his childhood on the Caribbean side of Costa Rica. In 2002 he fell in love with the sport of surfing. Over the years, Esteban worked for severals surf schools in Playa Guiones, Costa Rica, which helped to shape his career as being a member of the International Surfing Association (ISA), as a certified, trained professional surf coach. In partnership with his good friend and cousin, Esteban fulfilled his dream of having his own surf school in Nosara, Costa Rica, which has led to incredible opportunities to travel and coach/explore surfing at a numbers of amazing surf spots throughout the the US and abroad like Hawaii, Portugal, and Bali. In 2014 he decided to move to Los Angeles, California to live with his wife and start a new life. Estebanʼs goal is to break away from the traditional surf school mold that has regular every day surfers as instructors who arenʼt certified. He has put together the worldʼs best techniques of surfing, with his extensive knowledge of teaching throughout his career of being a member of the ISA and a certified lifeguard. If youʼve ever been taught to drive by a member of your family youʼll know the difference between being good at doing something and being good at teaching it...Estebanʼs aim is not only to teach you how to surf, instead he aims to teach you how to teach yourself to surf.
